Exciting news for Wedding with a view!
I got a very exciting email yesterday, one telling me I had been accepted as a blogger for Weddingbee!!! My new moniker will be Miss Teaspoon.
Now many of you won't have a clue what Weddingbee is, so let me explain, it is a website devoted to bridal blogs, there are usually around 20 to-be weds and any number of newly-weds blogging at the same time under a variety of monikers, such as tea-party items like I will be.
For those of you who have joined me from the weddingbee community, you can either read my posts here or read them as part of the weddinbee blog - I will continue to post my entries right here so it is completely up to you!
Ordinarily going to Weddingbee wouldnt result in too much of a change, but I have been wanting to register a new domain for some time now, so I made a little bargain with myself that if I got accepted I would go ahead and fork out the $10 for the registration!
Come on over and join me at http://www.licoriceandolives.com/ and continue the journey!

Mama gets dressed
So, we have had a bit of drama finding my Mama a dress. Mama started the search about a week after I had bought my dress, as apparently my dress really sets the mood of the whole occassion in conjunction with the venue and the church! That really makes sense to me actually, as originally I was thinking of an apple green for the bridesmaids dresses, however after I chose my dress I knew that navy was a much more suitable colour. So, what did Mum go with? Also navy.... strike one.
With the first "bridezilla" comment floating around I was keen to help Mum to find a suitable dress, however off she went shopping on her own again, I received a few picture text messages of black or grandma dresses, or my personal favourite - "too Julia Gillard" (for those outside Australia - info here):
So, back to the drawing board for lucky number 3! We awoke early last Saturday morning, pumped it up with our personal trainer in the garage while looking out at the pouring rain then headed over to Chatswood Chase and wouldnt you know it, everything was either Navy or Silver? Apparently winter fashion is blue and grey? So, the only dress that Mama tried on happened to be in a very warm colour, tangerine! Just to be clear, not orange - tangerine! It is a lovely Carla Zampatti number which will be wonderful!
Happy Mummy glad shopping is over after only trying on 1 dress!!
I think I actually prefer it without the jacket but it could just be the way she is standing? The good thing is, even though everyone says this, she could actually wear this again, not as a complete ensemble necessarily, but definitely the dress on its own and the jacket with jeans and a nice cami!
Did I ever think my Mum would be wearing orange TANGERINE to my wedding - I am going to go with no, but goodness it looks lovely!

Getting Organised - Part 3
Now, what would I use when I go to see people, talk to people on the phone and I need to take notes? Well, thats where my dear friend Kiki K comes in and this beautiful little organisation book:
Of the 5 women that I know who are getting married in the next 6-9 months, they all have this book! Thats how amazing it is! When you first open the page you are greeted with a nice to do list to keep you focused and help make sure that you arent forgetting anything:
Inside you can find a number of dividers that help us to categorise everything and write notes and also lead us with points that we should consider, as well as leaving plenty of space to staple things in and write lots of notes!
Yes, they are our options for our invites and I stuck the business cards in there aswell!
Are you convinced now of my ridiculously anal retentive nature?

Getting Organised - Part 2
This is where I tell you all about how ridiculously anal I am! Shame, shame... I am way way too organised sometimes. Not to worry, it is becoming a great strength to have when it comes to wedding planning!
Let you give you an update of the great post-it note wall. It is still there in all its glory! However, now there is a lot more things on the "done" side of the wall rather than on the month by month organisation area.
I am a huge fan of the paper method of organising you see, I am a visual person and I love seeing all those post its on the done wall, crossing them off and moving them across is such an awesome feeling! The mister has also added a few motivational post-its to help me when im studying too!
However, I still need somewhere to store all those large documents like our agreements, options for ceremony wording and other bits and bobs that dont quite fit onto a post-it note and thats where my super handy binder steps in. This is what I use for all those documents that I dont need to use that much but which need to be in a central place! They are all organised under different tabs to help me find them quickly! The best one is the intinerary of our honeymoon - eep!
Here are all the tabs that I have inside, all using the sticking down type dividers, so that I can just add them when I need them!
Now, what would I use when I go to see people, talk to people on the phone and I need to take notes? Well, look forward to hearing all about that in my next organisation post!

Getting emotional
I have become one of those women. You know the ones, they cry when they watch the dog food commercial on TV, they cry when they hear their wedding song, they cry when the jeweller's wife tells them they are going to make a beautiful bride, they cry when it rains and their ugg boots get wet and they cry when they don't cut the onions quite straight (ok so that last one im going to blame on the onions).
How on earth am I going to make it through our wedding day?
Why, after all these years of never crying, am I all of a sudden so emotional? Is it a sign of getting old? Is it possible that all those years of not crying are all of a sudden bubbling over when insignificant evens happen, like Dumbledore dying or getting to the end of Marley & Me and knowing what was going to happen and 'skipping over' that part?
So, in an effort to not be a bubbling mess on our wedding day and avoid a number of pictures with me and my ugly cry face, I have decided to make a conscious effort to embrace the emotion in me and not turn up with an ugly cry face a la Dawson:
No, that will definitely not do for our wedding day! I will need to practice smiling through it, and I already have a few friends who I have asked to position themselves down the aisle and are instructed to "do something funny!" if I look like im on the verge of tears!
Another staple I will be ensuring to have on hand will be strategically placing a few of my trusty hanky's - one (or 10) in both my Dad's jacket and in my fiance/hubby's pocket!!
My massage therapist also recommended getting out Harry Potter or Marley and me a few days before the wedding and just having a big old cry, apparently its very good for your chest muscles and just generally relaxing everything? Who knew?
